An Asbestos Management Plan is one of the main requirements of the asbestos legislation, namely section 8 of the Code of Practice for the Management and Control of Asbestos in Workplaces. It is stated that an Asbestos Management Plan (AMP) must be developed and implemented at the workplace and must be read in conjunction with the Asbestos Register (ACM Audit).

The purpose of an AMP is to help persons with control of premises to comply with the asbestos prohibition and prevent exposure to airborne asbestos fibres while ACM remain in the workplace.

The following principles must be applied and are addressed in ABSCAN's AMP:

  • A workplace register of ACM
  • Details of any maintenance or service work on that ACM, including dates when the work was performed, scope of the works, the company that performed the works and any clearance certificates
  • Mechanisms for providing all relevant people with information about ACM
  • Decisions about management options to maintain or replace ACM
  • A timetable for action for reviewing the risk assessment in specific circumstances of the workplace
  • Monitoring arrangements
  • Responsibilities of all persons involved with the asbestos management plan
  • Training arrangements for workers and contractors
  • A procedure for reviewing and updating the management plan and register of ACM
  • Safe work methods
  • Annual review of ACM information
  • Online Asbestos Database

ABSCAN can also assist you in the implementation and maintenance of your Asbestos Management Plan on our secure online asbestos management database.
