It is very important for those managing a Body Corporate to have a safety inspection undertaken. Under the Workplace Health and Safety Act, the Body Corporate is classed as a ' person in control ' of a workplace.

Section 30(1) of the WHS Act states that a person in control of a workplace have the following obligations to ensure:

• the risk of injury/illness from a workplace is minimised for persons coming onto the workplace to work
• the risk of injury/illness from any plant or substance provided by the person for the performance of work by someone other than the persons' workers is minimised when used properly
• that there is appropriate, safe access to and from the workplace for persons other than the persons' workers
