Abscan Pty Ltd trading as Abscan Building Consultants was established at Townsville, Queensland in 2002. Steve commenced building inspection services in 1982 while studying for his Bachelor of Architecture at R.M.I.T. in Melbourne.

Abscan Building Consultants provide specialist auditing and consulting services for residential and commercial buildings including bodies corporate throughout Northern and Central Queensland. Services have extended from the general public through to solicitors, real estates and engineering firms, construction companies, local government organisations and state-wide corporations.

Our firm also extends to assisting the Courts, barristers and lawyers with the provision of Expert Witness Reports in building and construction litigation matters.

The company's office is located at 59 Bundock Street, Belgian Gardens where all commissions for audits, design, planning, documentation, contract administration, reports and building audits are carried out for local and regional clients.

    The principal of the company, Stephen Malcolm has built the practice into one of Townsville's leading building consultancy and project management companies. His vision and commercial capability are recognised throughout the business community.

    Stephen's management skills oversee all operations of the inspection, reporting, documentation and contract administration.
    Stephen has worked with many private and government organisations, communicating effectively through individuals or committee structures.


    Steve Glasby | Cost Consultant
    Bachelor of Building UNSW 1982

    Steve has been providing construction cost analysis and building management services to our company since 2003.
    His vast experience and involvement with contractors and suppliers due to his supervisory roles enables an accurate costing of construction for development and also for insurance valuation purposes.

    He holds membership with the Institute of Building Consultants of the Queensland Master Builders Association and holds an Open Builders Licence No. 896986.

    Prior to his own building consultancy company of 9 years, he was engaged by major companies working on commercial projects of all sizes in the North Queensland area over a 15 year period.

    David Stanley | Building Consultant

    David Stanley has excellent knowledge and experience in residential and commercial building constructions, and has been a building inspector for a number of years.

    He has been a registered residential and commercial builder since 1984 (No. 19669).

     

    Ian

     

    Ian Wallace | Architect

    Ian Wallace is a registered Architect (Qld) No. 1108, Licensed Builder (Open) No. 74668 and a Former Member of the Australia Institute of Project Management. Ian's work history covers many other aspects of the Architectural profession and building industry including project management, which he has had dealt with the past 15-20 years. Previously Ian was employed as a Regional Manager for Project Services.

     

     

    Anita Malcolm | Administration Manager

    Anita's primary role in the company includes accountancy, financial control, credit control, word processing and provides a support role to the Managing Director in areas such as marketing and office management. She has completed a number of commercial courses including management and computerised accounting.

     

    Laura

     

    Laura Walton | Project Administrator

    Since Laura's commencement in February 2006, her role has primarily been to assist the Director with all administration aspects of building auditing, consultancy services, project management and administering tender and contract packages. She is also involved with marketing and website maintenance and management. She is competent in a number of software applications including MYOB, QuickBooks, Nero Premium, Adobe Systems and all programs of Microsoft Office. She has also completed a Cert IV in Business Administration.

     

     

    Ainsley Murdoch | Administration Officer

    Ainsley's primary role within the company is to coordinate asbestos inspections, reinspections and generate reports together with management of the asbestos database. Her role also includes preparing and managing asbestos tender packages, quotations and liaising with the appropriate contractors/clients, along with cost consultancy services and building reports for bodies corporate.

     A high level of support is also provided to both the Administration Manager and Managing Director.

     

    Lauren

     

    Lauren Head | Receptionist

    Lauren's primary role within the company is to coordinate building and defect inspections, liaise with the appropriate contractors/real estate agents, and generate the appropriate reports, along with general secretarial duties. She provides a supporting role to the Administration Officer and Administration Manager.

     

    Kristy

     

    Kristy Beer | Fire Safety Consultant

    Kristy commenced employment with Abscan in September 2009 to manage and coordinate all aspects of fire safety compliance including quoting and onsite meetings with prospective clients, assisting customer enquiries in understanding Fire Safety Regulations, compiling Fire Safety Compliance Audits and managing the preparation and installation of evacuation diagrams. Her role also involves the marketing of Abscan’s Fire Safety sector.
