Generally, the presence of asbestos in the home poses a health risk when asbestos materials have been broken, are deteriorating or disturbed in such a way that dust containing asbestos fibres is produced (such as during sanding or sawing).

It is not always easy to identify what materials may contain asbestos. The best way to do this is by having one of ABSCAN's asbestos consultants visit your property to carry out a Preliminary Assessment where we identify what materials are deemed to contain asbestos. Upon client instructions, samples of presumed ACM can be obtained for laboratory analysis and identification.

If you do not want to have samples analysed, the area presumed to contain ACM should be treated as though it contains asbestos and the correct safety procedures utilised during any renovation works.
